National Baking Week aims to encourage people of all abilities to bake at home, bringing out the positives of being more creative, proud of your accomplishments, and making others happy too. From complete beginners to those learning the ropes at university, or for the more experienced who want to expand their skills, the award-winning bakery Ruth’s Little Kitchen (https://ruthslittlekitchen.co.uk/) offers online classes to easily access and enjoy in the comfort of your own home.
From running cooking lessons in Ruth’s Little Kitchen HQ in the picturesque village of Brockham, Surrey, Ruth had to quickly transform her classes online in response to Covid-19. After months of live workshops from Instagram and Facebook, she received such a huge success, leading Ruth to create an exciting range of online classes. The range of modules includes ‘Introduction to Baking’, ‘Classic Cookery’, and ‘International Cuisine’.
From the classic lockdown banana cake to the delicious shortbread with chocolate drizzle, to the traditional white bread loath, Ruth will run you through her tried and tested baking recipes. The ‘Introduction to Baking’ classes includes 12 step-by-step videos in total, costing just £85, and can be enjoyed in your own time.
“I strongly believe in encouraging individuals of all ages to enjoy cooking, especially during this time when we are all spending more time at home and in need of some more positivity. From receiving high engagement and positive feedback on my live workshops on Instagram and Facebook, I am thrilled to be offering more online classes for all levels to try. My ethos is simple and authentic: cook, teach, share, and eat. Baking doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that, and I can ensure that there will be lots of fun on the way.”

The online courses are also suitable for students aged 14 and above to achieve the skills section of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, including bronze, silver, and gold. Within these online classes, Ruth can also cover hygiene and safety, nutrition, food science, and lots of useful tips (she even encourages the washing up!).
In 2019, Ruth won Gold at the World Bread Awards following a positive response to her bakery and cooking school, making Ruth a fantastic choice for those looking to build on their baking skills.
