If you want to join in on the taco fun without cheating on your diet, don’t worry! There are still plenty of ways to make a healthy taco.

Avacado

If you want to add some plant-based texture to your tacos, try avocados! They are high in potassium and fiber and don’t have much saturated fat in them. 

You can either just slice the avocado and add it to your taco, or you can mash them and use it to make your own guacamole. For healthy guacamole, you can also add in garlic, red onion, and lime juice!

Chicken or Fish

Many people avoid tacos because the beef can be covered in grease, which has a lot of fat in it. However, you can also use chicken and fish as a healthier option!

Bell Peppers

Bell peppers can add a nice crunch to your tacos, and they’re also great for you.

They have plenty of fiber as well as essential Vitamins, like A, B6, and C. You can either slice these up and cook them on the stovetop, or you can dice them up to add a slight texture boost for your tacos. 

Seasoning

While you can taco seasoning packets for your tacos, a lot of them have over 400 milligrams of sodium, which can be very unhealthy. 

Instead, it’s better to create your own seasoning! You can use something like lime, garlic, and lemon all mixed together with some other herbs. Not only will it taste better, but it’ll also be better for you.

Tomatoes

Many people already add in tomatoes to their tacos because they have antioxidants in them, which can reduce heart disease and cancer. They’re also great for getting your dose of potassium, Vitamin K, and Vitamin C. 

You could even dice up these tomatoes and make your own home-made salsa to use as a side or add into your taco shells. 

Shells

Lastly, skip the calorie-filled, deep-fried taco shells. Instead, you should try and use soft, corn tortillas.

These contain a lot of fiber and not as much fat. If you want to make them a little bit tastier, you should lightly toast them to make them a little puffy. You can also add avocado oil!
