Clyde May Alabama Whiskey Review:
Clyde May’s is a fantastically smooth 5 year Kentucky Corn Whiskey. It was a great surprise in the abundance of Kentucky whiskeys I’ve tried in the last 3 years. It comes across with an herbal, spicy, apple-and-nutmeg aroma and with a pleasant body with enough kick to keep me happy at the end!
This is a smooth and enjoyable whiskey, packed with flavor. The sweet apple flavors that slowly sneak into the tongue are quite pleasant. There is a spice-y quality to the alcohol that comes out when mulling it with ice. I was immediately reminded of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout, because of its vanilla and cinnamon flavors. I found none of the woodsy flavor though, which I found enjoyable in the Bourbon County. In addition, the lighter herbal aspect of the whiskey comes through on the palate. Overall I liked this whiskey quite a bit!
Clyde May’s is definitely an easy going summer sipper. I found myself liking it quite a lot; it’d be pretty good if you’re traveling or if you get thirsty while at work. Overall, it is a unoffensive whiskey that is nice to have with a friend having a few beers.
