A cask-strength Springbank 12 Year Old, released in 2020 after maturing in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. Floral aromas of wine gums, wood chippings, candied ginger and lack liquorice fill the nose. The palate offers notes of spiced biscuits, salted caramel, salted pretzels, Iberico ham and rich smoke.

Colour: Mahogany with a red hue.
On the Nose: Nose of wood smoke, sherry, vanilla, toffee, and only a little alcohol for the strength
On the Palate: So much balance, so much depth. Sweet, slightly smoky with vanilla, toffee, and butterscotch, the flavours on this dram are so far ranging it is truly shocking. As a Scottish Whisky connoisseur, this is one of the finest drams I have ever tasted. With an ABV of 59.9%, the flavours are wonderfully restrained.
Verdict: One of the finest examples of distillery character married to the sweetness of the Bourbon cask. What makes this particular cask so wonderful is its marriage and balance of flavours. It is a very approachable whisky that will satisfy the novice and enthusiast alike.
The 18/20 score says it all. One truly outstanding drink that is not really limited in a particular style. Ratings of 18/20 are reserved for extremely rare and special releases, and are not very common, this whisky is definitely in that category.

This is a wonderful Single Malt that shows the character of Islay, with a light smoky character that is so typical of the region. It is easy to drink, but complex enough to make it a wonderful experience. Not as strong as some Islays, but still rich with flavours. Great bottle, great whisky.
