Tuthilltown Distillery Half Bottle
A half-bottle of the splendidly-named Hudson Baby Bourbon – the first legal aged grain spirit to be produced in New York since Prohibition ended over 75 years ago. Unusually for bourbon, Hudson’s spirit is manufactured in a potstill at the Tuthilltown Gristmill (a heritage site) and is aged in small new oak casks.

Baby Bourbon Review:
The Hudson Baby Bourbon is a wonderfully complex whiskey: passionate, earthy, intense, and delicious. The floral notes in the opening, along with the honey-like notes in the finish, are all powerfully on the nose, but the palate is purely a savoury one. The Hudson Baby Bourbon is full and warm, and the entrance of an orange citrus note (and a very tantalising pinch of salt) suggest that this might be the most balanced and rounded bourbon in the Hudson family.
Since its beginnings in 1857, the Hudson family have been closely associated with New York City – particularly Manhattan, since the distillery is located on the western bank of the East River on the north side of 42nd Street. Various family members have had a hand in the distilling heritage of the Hudson Bay Company, one of the oldest privately-owned companies in America, and for this reason alone, Hudson Baby Bourbon is extremely appropriate for Manhattan, New York’s pre-eminent metropolis.

Worthy of Buying: Yes, I know it’s a little out of the way but I’d be recommending it to anyone interested in buy it. Hudson Baby Bourbon has been a simply excellent addition to my collection, and this half bottle is about half way through!
Tuthilltown Distillery – Hudson Baby Bourbon and Tuthilltown Spirits have a wonderfully mellow and balanced blend with a very lovely and lingering woody, honeyed and spicy flavor. Tuthilltown Baby Bourbon is a well-balanced and intoxicating whiskey.

The Hudson Baby Bourbon is a wonderfully complex whiskey… In the foreground are huge clove, cinnamon and nutmeg flavors, however, on the background are chocolate and wood spice flavors. The Hudson Baby Bourbon is a very balanced drop.

Tuthilltown Hudson Baby Bourbon is a slightly sweet, spicy, supple whiskey, with honey, fruit and spicy oak notes. The finish is also sweet and spicy. Hudson Baby Bourbon is a very pleasant whiskey, but I think it could be slightly more mature, especially when compared to the brilliant blends of the American whiskey giants. I have to say this is an impressive whiskey, and I will certainly be buying more Hudson Baby bourbons in the future!

The Hudson Baby Bourbon is full and warm, for a first impression its a bit too tightly controlled, but once the spices and honey begin to emerge, it becomes a much more pleasant whiskey. Hudson Baby Bourbon – an interesting and interesting drop, with some tangy sweetness in the mix. Hudson Baby Bourbon is a very pleasant whiskey, and it will be interesting to see if they make changes before another batch is bottled.

Tuthilltown Baby Bourbon is quite good. Very good. Not perfect – but very good. In its first 12 months on the market, it proves to be one of New York’s best whiskies. It’s got a nice balance, wheaty fruit and honey with more than a peck of spice. Its also very smooth. A big success.
