Notes: This 12-year-old Chivas Regal is a quality whisky recommended for mature evening drinking, a single malt that is great. The use of new American oak barrels gives this venerable malt a unique character and a hint of cherry in the nose. A medium bodied whisky that is a smooth, understated sipper.

Well, what can I say? Chivas might be the most famous of all the single malts and is highly sought after. And the 12-year-old is very good. It smells nice and has a smooth, understated body. Well balanced and very enjoyable. A great whisky for the money.

I think it would be my favourite Scotch before the tasting, with a subtle cherry under current, peaty profile. Such charisma that the whiskies in it are able to manage this. Pair this up with cold smoked salmon or a fiery fish and you have an absolutely delicious whisky.

So, this is an interesting tasting as it shows which single malts are at their peak, and which are declining. But in general, though, the 12-year-old is a great easy sipping whisky.
Chivas Regal 12 Years Review 5:
Chivas is an interesting one. Some very strong tannic flavours and near black. The finish was flat. I would probably not have another, but I enjoyed the 12 year old.
I was quite impressed by this and I think it will be a favourite with those who prefer the more robust whiskies.
