Angostura 1919 Review:

“For the 18 years that rum goes into the rum, it is made from molasses. There is a small amount of apple and some coconut, but they are not the sweetest parts of the contents of the barrels.”

Appearance:

Angostura 1919 has a cinnamon/vanilla color to it. The color reminds me a little of dark honey. The body is deep brown.

Aroma:

Angostura 1919 has a warm and heavy vanilla/cinnamon aroma. There is some light brown sugar. I also get a good waft of molasses.

Taste:

Angostura 1919 has a warm and boozy flavor to it. It almost has a nutty flavor to it. There is a bit of coconut and some molasses. The flavors remind me of chocolate and molasses. There is a little spice to the finish from the brown sugar and molasses. The finish is light and warm.

Bottom Line:

Angostura 1919 is a very nice rum. The flavors of the rum remind me a little of chocolate and molasses. The flavors are slightly nutty and smooth. The rum has a light brown sugar flavor, a touch of molasses, and just a hint of the faintest hint of coconut. It is in every way a rum that is sweet, smooth, and tasty. I think that Angostura 1919 is a slightly sweet rum that is full of flavor.
